I love JD’s series of shots using his amazing collection of little people and seeing them each day popping up in the pool has brought a smile to my face every time! JD’s sense of humour is in no doubt and his skill as a photographer shines through with each submission. He clearly gives a lot of thought to the composition and perspective and I can picture him setting up these scenarios with great precision to achieve the shot he has in head. I am particularly blown away by the lighting in these little masterpieces, which gives them added depth and a touch of reality. I chose this one out of this week’s submissions as I just love the way he has totally filled the frame with the subject matter that disappears into the distance giving a great feeling of depth. The play on words utilising the Superman characters is just genius…although in the thumbnail I thought of Mulder and Scully from the X-files!
Looking Over The Files
August 17th, 2009very tatty shower brush
August 17th, 2009Diana’s extremely worn-out brush won the award for tattiness this week; looks like it was used for cleaning the whole shower! I like the angle she chose to shoot from and the selective focus on the tatty bristles; the choice of a pristine white background serves to enhance the grubby tattiness too.
Has Anyone Seen Andy’s Brush?

Pure class and a great homage to the pop-art king; Janet has taken making the mundane interesting to new heights here with her colourful image really helping to make Wednesday wild!
Plum
August 17th, 2009It took me ages to decide as yet again I had two favourites vying for the top spot, but Janet’s (JTowbin) plum-coloured image of her new favourite lipstick is just so gorgeous I had to choose it in the end over very strong competition from JD’s (JD Hancock) “Combing the Couch for Treasure” and Conni’s (Lemonyellowsky) rather painful looking back-brush. Janets choice of using a plum shade for colourising the whole image works so well. The lighting is just right, picking up the texture of the lipstick and catching the shine on the case; and the spot-on DOF focussing on the edge of the lipstick and casing throws everything else into wonderful plummy yumminess!
week 47 grooming products
August 17th, 2009A real struggle to decide between *~Jo~* ’s cool blue image of a dog grooming brush and Sheilah’s (hippie_flares) lipgloss and Janet’s ultra-cool floss pic and Janet’s wonderfully creative composition with the curl of floss echoing the curvy container, and I love the composition and DOF in Sheilah’s shot, but in the end it was the sheer delicious blueness of Jo’s image that was the decider. The lighting and graduated shading are superb and just goes to prove the old adage that you really can make the most mundane seeming object into an image of incredible complexity and beauty
Game over
August 17th, 2009Tatty doesn’t begin to describe this well used ball that Barbie has captured in this shot. The “Game Over” title is certainly apt!
Double Word Score
August 17th, 2009This processed shot for Wild Wednesday shows some amazing outside the box thinking. David managed to Photoshop himself into a game of Scrabble. Moreover, his “Genius” t-shirt (very apt for this shot!) was so popular with the members of the group that the shirt has now begun a world wide journey to find new and other exciting photographs to be a part of.
